Chapter 1105

---

For the past two days in jail, I was really on edge.

Even though Caleb said he’d save me, I knew it wouldn’t be easy. The Thorn Edge Pack elders were hard to persuade.
On top of that, they were never like me at all. Finding out I was a witch sealed the deal. They were definitely not letting me off the hook.
Plus, Caleb’s father wasn’t thrilled about me being a witch either.

He called the shots in the Thorn Edge Pack. If he decided to target me, it would put Caleb in a really tough spot.
Staring out the tiny window of my cell, I let out a sigh.
The sky had been overcast for days. The dim light that trickled in matched my gloomy mood.
Actually, what troubled me the most were my two kids. The idea that the members of the pack would take out their frustrations on Elena and Dylan, who did nothing wrong, was terrifying.
A lot of them believed Elena and Dylan would inherit my witch power, just because they’re my kids.
And with the pack in turmoil, predicting their moves was impossible.
If Caleb got too tied up trying to get me out and couldn’t keep an eye on them, my kids would end up in harm’s way from some impulsive pack members.

But fretting over it wasn’t going to free me.
The more I dwelled on it, the more anxious I got. I wished I could just sprout wings and check on my kids myself, to make sure no one was giving them a hard time.
As I was deep in thought, the sound of footsteps suddenly echoed from outside. I quickly turned and caught sight of Caleb’s tall, upright figure.
He looked noticeably more worn out than when I last saw him. His face was pale, his eyes red and weary, with a hint of sorrow in his gaze.
Clearly, he hadn’t had much rest recently.
Feeling a wave of concern, I walked up to the bars and asked with worry in my voice, “Honey, how have you been these past couple of days?”

Caleb responded with a reassuring smile, “Don’t fret. Everything’s under control out here. Nothing important has happened. If all goes as planned, you’ll be out of here soon.”
Seeing his composed demeanor convinced me he wasn’t hiding anything, and I felt a sense of relief wash over me. It was evident Caleb’s exhaustion stemmed from his relentless efforts.
I advised, “Try to get some rest when you can, okay? Look after yourself and don’t overdo it.”
“Alright. Don’t worry, I’ll make sure to take care of myself,” Caleb promised, his smile never fading.
Then I asked, “By the way, how are Elena and Dylan? How’s everything going with their daily lives and school?”
I was not just concerned about their safety. I was also worried they would face discrimination because of me once they started kindergarten.
It was important to pay attention to children’s mental well-being.
